An Actual Conversation, About Cats

My brother Matt: I was just trying to get them together.

Me: Jacob and Samantha don’t like each other. He tries to mount her.

Matt: I can see how that would be a problem.

Me: It puts a strain on their relationship.

Matt: I don’t know why, it does wonders for mine.

“Courage” by New Model Army
from the album B-Sides and Abandoned Tracks

We walk every morning in silence
Past the mills on Whetley Lane
Where the lights went out for the very last time
And they never came on again
The spokesmen all shred crocodile tears
In the glory of the News at Ten
But the proudest eyes are long since dry
And they’re never going to cry again

Dear Friend, I salute your courage and I toast to your health
And I wish you all the luck in the whole wide world
May you never be broken like they say you will

Everything Old…

Just a quick procedural note: Any post older than this one is a reprint of one sort or another, either from my 1UP page, my short-lived blog at johnnyhighground.com, or the magazine I worked at for, oh, about ten friggin years.

So if you come across any references that strike you as odd, please excuse them.

I am, however, going to leave comments on all these old posts open for awhile, at least, so if you feel like contributing to any of the preceding topics, please do. And please, enjoy.
